Wedding Bells Rang for MH Editor

Congratulations to Maupin House's Production Manager and Editor, Emily Gorovsky, who tied the knot this past weekend with her longtime beau, Andrew Raij. The two had a lovely outdoor ceremony at Independence Grove Forest Preserve and Park near Chicago, IL! We're looking forward to having Mrs. Raij back in the office this week.

Preparing students for end-of-course writing exams

A recent report from the Center on Education Policy examined the new developments in the implementation of state high school exit exams in 26 states that currently implement or plan to implement these tests. The report specifically focuses on the states’ move away from minimum-competency and comprehensive exams toward end-of-course exams.

Nancy Dean's Writing Intervention Kit for High School can help prepare students for these end-of-course writing exams while raising the writing competency of low-performing writers. The kit is available now from Maupin House!

Teachers shopping for a good cause

Hey teachers, did you know that Ann Taylor Loft gives special discounts and offers just for teachers? Sign up here and do some more back-to-school shopping!

When you're done shopping for yourself, why not do some spending that helps others? When you buy "Gifts That Give More" at TheHungerSite, you can help fund invaluable literacy and education efforts like providing school shoes for girls in rural Africa or school supplies for Bolivian children. Budgets are tight in U.S. schools, but some schools are hurting even more internationally. Consider shopping for a good cause--it's one shopping spree that won't give you buyer's remorse.
